I know, I know... Halloween isn’t even here yet! 🎃 But I’m getting a head start this year because something fun is coming back!
Last year, I created personalized Thanksgiving placemats for families. They were such a hit that I’m doing them again — perfect for local residents and visitors with little ones! 🦃✨
If you’d like a placemat (or a few!), just fill out the quick Google form. You can pick them up at my November Story & Craft Time at Island Espresso , Saturday, November 1st at 10:00 a.m. or at the St. George Island Realty office the week before Thanksgiving. (I’ll share exact pickup times soon!)

From donating to the Humane Society and promoting children's literacy, each effort is a small way to say thank you to this beautiful area of Florida that I am blessed to call home.

Bring Me a Book Forgotten Coast
Bring Me A Book Forgotten Coast is a non-profit organization focused on igniting the passion to read in the children of Franklin, Gulf, and adjoining counties in the State of Florida. Bring Me A Book Forgotten Coast is an affiliate of the Bring Me A Book Foundation based in Mountain View, California and founded by Judy Koch of Palo Alto, California.
Directed toward dramatically improving literacy and success in school, Bring Me A Book Forgotten Coast supplies quality books and open-faced bookcases to settings that serve children and teaches parents, siblings, teens and community members the critical importance of READING ALOUD TO CHILDREN FROM BIRTH.
St. Joseph Bay Humane Society
St. Joseph Bay Humane Society, Inc. is an IRS-certified 501(c)3 no-kill shelter dedicated to relieving animal suffering, preventing animal cruelty, promoting human education and enhancing the animal and human bond.
We are proud to partner with rescue organizations across the nation and find a loving home for every one of our pets.
We serve all of Gulf County, Florida as a humane society for stray animals and animal control housing.
Free Little Library for Little Visitors
As a retired kindergarten/first grade teacher, promoting early literacy is near and dear to my heart. Children are welcome to take books from the little library. They may read them and return them or they may keep them. Every season I swap out the books in the little library, so be sure to check it out.
The Free Little Library for Little Visitors is located in front of St. George Island Realty at 115 W Gulf Beach Dr. on St. George Island.
GFWC PHILACO Woman's Club of Apalachicola
The Philaco Woman's Club of Apalachicola was organized in 1896 as the Woman's Reading Club. By 1903, the Club had broadened its scope of work, being active in civic and educational affairs, as well as cultural, and a new name was sought to reflect more accurately the Club's purpose. Mrs. Buffum, then President, took the name of the town, Apalachicola, and using no letter of the original twice, gave a motto from the new combination:
PHIL...........Meaning Brotherly Love
AC..............Meaning Hospitality, Bravery and Growth
O................Characterizes dignity and added to an integer, increases it ten times
Philaco has more than 60 members, including businesswomen, teachers, homemakers and retirees. Members' diversity unites them through a dedication to volunteer service. Among other accomplishments, Philaco Woman's Club founded the Apalachicola Municipal Library, and has been awarding annual scholarships to graduating seniors for many years.
